This is a work in progress and if It doesn’t come out right well..one day it will. My tuatha has always been one for an in-depth discussion and thought provoking conversation although we are most assuredly not that way all the time.
Everyone is talking about The Election and the impact of it on the world and the war and I’m not sure that I really want to discuss that.
My point of view to date has been that I have no say in where and what my husband gets to do. He signed a contract and he has a job to do and there is no taking that back. My only option is to support him, which I do with every fiber in my being, with my undying affection and love, and very few people will ever have to experience that kind of delima in your life. It is difficult to separate politics from feelings and even more so when hardly any one has adequate information. Everyone knows the war is “Wrong” and that the troops are just doing their “job” but their hearts don’t beat to a different rhythm than yours. They’ve given up family, life, births and deaths voluntarily. THAT is a sacrifice worth honoring in Washington DC. Despite what the entertainment news (and that is what it is) says about it..The Iraqi people as a whole are glad we are there as fucked up as our reasons are for being there perhaps, they are picking up the brooms and sweeping the streets now, so to speak. Ignore the hype and the politics. When the silence comes like it always will there will be a gratitude whispered in the ears of our men and women that gave themselves for other people. ( not all soldiers feel this way , some are not as loving) not for America’s safety or anything close. but for the Iraqi people-giving them a space where they can stand up.
The world is a big place but if a strong tribe protects a weaker one from being terrorized there is good in that and we would want the same done for us. It isn’t about “policing the world” it’s about extending a hand in human kindness and helping with humanitarian efforts first.
I think the human race has largely forgotten itself. There are “bad people” out there but we’ve forgotten our strength which is to take care. This earth is large but maybe humans can start shifting from an Empirical mind set of ruling the world. We’ve had years of wars against each other for ideology and it’s time to move past that.
The Irish way of speaking says ” there is a sickness on me” and the English way of speaking is “I AM sick”. Let’s move past owning our sickness and just wear them, like an ugly hat we can always take them off if it doesn’t work for us.
With all the advances in the world one would think that we could move past My god has a bigger dick than your god scenario. Yes it is an ultimately naive way of thinking, every generation has longed for a utopia. If we can unite across party lines, unites across religious lines, across borders and oceans, then we can get somewhere people. I’m sure the aliens are getting bored with our petty spats with one another over a parking space. ( that’s all war is isn’t it? )
No the true skeptic in me knows we will probably never move past a medieval way of thinking about the world and others in it. Do I think one president elect can do it? it would be more feasible to say that my cats could do it. No I do not. But it’s time for humans to shift…not into the indigo child new age shift but put down the stick and maybe go talk to your neighbor? That would be a good start.
I’m not sure where this is all going and it might come down in a few days but there it is. Have fun.
