1) Why do Americans/westerners/probably people in general have to engineer/over-think EVERYTHING?? – I was watching a video today on reiki and every point made sounded like this…..
Teacher: Take your middle finger and place it on the center of the chest with light pressure until you feel your pulse and then sync up your energy with that pulse.
Student: is it the tip of the finger or the pad of the finger? do you want it to be stiff or relaxed? what kind of pressure do I give? 60%….30%? I don’t feel a pulse …wait I do but it’s kind of erratic, is my energy supposed to be erratic….
(literally goes on for 15 minutes and it’s not just one person it’s nearly everyone in the class)
Teacher: Just feel. Just touch.
Now this may be because of the Japanese martial training I’ve had but it’s best to listen, watch and experience.
Especially with any energy manipulation. Feel. It can’t be engineered and grafted out.
I think that’s a problem too with western thinking we over ask and over analyze everything. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be critical but we don’t EXPERIENCE enough.
A Takamatsu Sensei would say to a student he was about to use as Ukei ( training partner/attacker) ” Understand? okay. Experience” *whack*
We are too caught up in doing what is “right” or correct. Too lost in the future or past. Live now. Actively experience the present.
We are curious human beings and it’s natural to be inquisitive but for the gods sake there is a balance.
I think it has something to do with being overstimulated.
As you can tell it’s still an open thought…but there it is.
