I just hired a new person and work and ‘lo and behold he’s a heathen ( Norse to be exact). We had a quick discussion about our paths and how we got to where we are.
I’m rather excited meeting another heathen/pagan that isn’t ‘fluffy’. (they have thier place…like maybe becoming a human pinata? j/k)
Our discussion caused me to think about a few of things in my practice and what makes me who I am and my connection with the gods. I found I can’t talk about who I am without speaking of my love for the land and I cannot speak of Her without remembering my first experiances when I was very young in the forests of Western North Carolina.
I wonder what drives our souls towards a spiritual path?(some say human beings are wired for ‘god’) What causes us to keep digging into this rare patch of earth that supports polytheism? Is it just an insatiable curiousity never culled from childhood? Is this path something we are supposed to remeber from that long ago before? Or is it something completly unique and nothing is saying do or not do….
When I look into the eyes of my Tuatha I feel an intensity that the path we hike is one of rare importance to the earth and the collective spirit. Not saying we are going to save the world…it’s just something really unique.
A thought in process…..
