Funny things happen around Samhain…This is kind of one of them.
**My Oma and Opa on their wedding day on May 22, 1954 (still living)**
Today, for the first time in my life I’ve seen pictures of my paternal grandfather’s parents.
I learned I look nothing like my great grandmother Marie but I think she was lovely. She was a hairdresser.
My great grandfather William (Bill) was a Steam Laundry Delivery Driver at the time of my Opa’s birth in 1935.
I learned that Opa’s mother was “German-French” with the surnames of Diehl from her Father and Kline/klein and Claas from her mother.
I learned my Opa’s father was “English and Scotch” with the surnames of Robison (which I was always told was German) from his father and McCulloch from his mother.
**pictured below are William and Marie Robison in front of their house in Hawaii**
I don’t really know what to say…I’m still kind of in shock really. My mother assured me I’d never get a hold of these photos since my Oma and my great grandmother never really got a long and I’ve never been close to my Opa to even ask about them.
In the honor of family and ancestors…here is a picture of my mother’s parents, whom are not long gone from this world. I miss them so.
Even if you don’t know your ancestry at all at least say “Hello” this Samhain.
